Date with the Mayor at the Romer

Guten Morgan!

Today we had the honor and privilege to meet with the Mayor of Frankfurt at the Romer (Frankfurt's city hall).  Not a lot of people have the opportunity to step into the Kaisersaal (the room of the Kaisers), which depicts 19th century portraits of all the German Emperors from 900 C.E. to 1806 C.E.  The Mayor gave a speech to our students about how important this exchange is to the relationship between America and Germany.  He stated that he appreciates our travelers to have the courage to be young international peace ambassadors and hopes that this exchange continues for years to come.   We were joined by two representatives of the American Consultant who were very impressed with not only our students but at our school NELA!

Here are the photos of the students circling up with the Mayor, Mrs. Wagoner accepting an official gift from the city of Frankfurt, Mr. Zinni "schmoozing" with the mayor and us enjoying some complimentary Pretzels and Apple Juice.  There is a special picture of the American flag waving in the wind.  In Europe theAmerican flag is hardly raised and to have the Romer put our home country's flag up on this day is a huge honor and symbol of respect.
